Everything else we repair

Inside a condo village

Out west, one 55-plus condo village alone is 253 separate associations, and its welcome brochure says the rules may vary by building. Four things it asks of owners bear on a repair visit.

Braided steel hoses running from two shut-off valves in a wall box to the back of a washer
  • Gate passes

The village’s clubhouse ID office issues gate and guest passes. Arrange one for the visit, and tell us the gate instructions when you book.

  • Building by building

Each association keeps its own bylaws and rules, so ask your building what applies to a contractor in your unit.

  • A condo sitter

Owners away for long stretches are asked to hire a condo sitter and give the building president the sitter’s name and number.

  • The main water valve

For any trip longer than a day, the brochure suggests closing the unit’s main water valve.

Deerfield Beach, west to east

Deerfield Beach counted about 87,000 people in 2020; a third of its homes are in buildings of 20 or more units, and six in ten were built before 1980, the Census Bureau’s survey shows.

  1. Golf and condo villages

    Turnpike to I-95

Two big condo communities wrapped around golf courses and a winding canal, lower-density streets in the far northwest, and a business belt along Powerline Road.

Seasonal. Nearly one home in four west of I-95 stood empty for seasonal use when the Census Bureau surveyed it.

  2. The old town center

    I-95 to Federal Highway

Mostly single-family streets around the corner of Hillsboro Boulevard and Dixie Highway, the center of Deerfield’s businesses in 1910.

Landmark. Pioneer Park, on the banks of the Hillsboro Canal, was built by the Lions Club starting in 1947.

  3. Canal streets

    Federal Highway to the Intracoastal

Single-family streets cut by finger canals, with taller buildings along the Intracoastal.

Drawbridge. The Hillsboro Boulevard bridge to the island opens for boats on the hour and half hour.

  4. Deerfield Beach Island

    Along A1A

Condo buildings along A1A behind a one-mile guarded beach, with Boca Raton’s beach to the north and the Town of Hillsboro Beach to the south.

Landmark. The city’s International Fishing Pier runs 976 feet out from the beach.

Common Deerfield Beach questions

Need to ask something else? Call (754) 285-8880 Text a question

Which parts of Deerfield Beach does Beaver Appliance work in?

All of them: the condo villages and golf communities west of I-95, the old town center and its streets, the canal neighborhoods east of Federal Highway, and the condo buildings on the island.

Does my Deerfield Beach water come from the city or Broward County?

It depends on the neighborhood, and the city’s Water Service Lookup page shows which. The city plant serves more than 62,000 people with water from Biscayne and Floridan aquifer wells, softened with lime and filtered through membranes; areas the city annexed from unincorporated Broward County are on the county system.

How long can a hurricane knock out power in Deerfield Beach?

Days to weeks in a strong storm. The city’s hurricane page says power outages are likely in a Category 2 storm, and a Category 3 can bring power and water outages lasting days to weeks. A closed refrigerator keeps food safe for up to four hours without power, the USDA says.

Which neighboring towns does Beaver Appliance also serve?

All four towns on our list that touch Deerfield Beach: Boca Raton across the Hillsboro Canal to the north, Coconut Creek to the west, and Pompano Beach and Lighthouse Point to the south. Hillsboro Beach, the town on the barrier island to the south, isn’t on the list; if you’re there, give us a call.
