Every building has its own rules
About four in ten residential properties with a Clearwater address are condo units, against about one in four across Pinellas County. Tell us your building’s rules when you book.
The front desk
If vendors check in with a front desk or an attendant, say so when you book.
A vendor form
If your building wants a vendor form from you before it lets a repair in, send it ahead of the visit, and tell us who will let us in.
The elevator
If the office books the elevator for appliance work, tell us the slot it gives you.
Work hours
If contractors may only work on certain days and hours, tell us which, and we’ll book inside them.

Clearwater counted about 117,000 people at the 2020 Census. More than half its homes were built before 1980, and most of the city drinks city water, about 60 percent of it pumped from the city’s own wells.

Downtown
By the water, in the west
Cleveland Street and the Main Library, on the water at the west end of the mainland city.
The causeway. The high bridge in our header photo is the Memorial Causeway’s main span.
-
North Greenwood
North of downtown
Some of the city’s oldest streets: around downtown and North Greenwood, about three homes in four were built before 1980.
Houses first. About six homes in ten here are detached houses, the most of any part of the city.
-
The middle
North-central Clearwater
A cluster of big buildings: about four homes in ten here are in buildings of twenty or more units.
Older residents. The median age here is about 56, against about 47 for the whole city.
-
Countryside and the east side
North-east, toward Safety Harbor
The newest parts of Clearwater: in Countryside and on the east side, about half the homes date from the early eighties or later.
County water. About one city home in a hundred, near Countryside, lies in Pinellas County’s water area rather than the city’s.
Clearwater questions
A question about your building? Call (813) 513-1699 Or send a text
Is Clearwater’s tap water hard?
It depends on who supplies the address. The city pumps about 60 percent of its water from its own wells and treats it at three plants, two of them reverse osmosis plants that remove hardness-causing salts; the rest it buys from Pinellas County. It publishes no hardness figure for the tap. County water, on many Clearwater addresses outside the city, is very hard on the USGS scale.
Who cleans the dryer riser in a Clearwater tower?
Not us: the shared riser and its fan belong to the building, so ask the office whether and when it cleans them. Our part ends where your unit’s duct joins the riser, as our condo and high-rise page shows.
Does salt air hurt a stainless refrigerator?
Sub-Zero and Wolf say stainless steel isn’t stain-proof, especially around salt water, and that for units exposed to salt water, rust on parts over time may not be preventable.
Our appliances sat in floodwater. Can they be repaired?
First, don’t touch a wet appliance that’s still plugged in, the CPSC says, and have a professional or your gas or electric company check the home before you use your appliances again. A refrigerator or freezer that floodwater reached, even partly, is unsafe to use and must be discarded, says the USDA: that’s a replacement, not a repair.
Do you also cover Palm Harbor and Tampa?
Yes, and both have pages of their own: Palm Harbor, just to the north, and Tampa, across Old Tampa Bay.
